Former PC star Nolan Schaefer signs with Bruins

schaefer_0705.jpgThe Boston Bruins on Moday announced that they had signed former Providence College goaltender Nolan Schaefer, the brother of former Bruin Peter Schaefer, as well as defenseman Nathan McIver.

Schaefer, 30, who played for the San Jose Sharks during the 2005-06 season, played last season in Russia. He set a school record at PC with 2,848 saves in 99 appearances. His contract is a one-year deal.

McIver, 25, has NHL experience with Anaheim and Vancouver, and spent most of last season with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. His contract is a two-year deal.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
